GT 24″ Cruiser BMX- This bike is available for $1100 (does not include Brute stem or seat collar)

This is a classic mid 80’s GT 24″ cruiser, kinda just stumbled on to this one in a buddy’s collection, and jumped on it when he was looking to sell it.

Great rider, TONS of room, this may become a pump track staple. If you are looking for a 24″ BMX cruiser, I would recommend these old school GT’s VERY HIGHLY!

Von Franco designed Dyno Taboo Tiki Beach Cruiser 26″

Nicci’s cruiser, I got this in the early 2000’s, brand new. Fun bike, looks cool, fun to ride. Dyno made these for just a moment, as part of a designer series. There are a group of collectors for this Dyno series, which included a variety of different themes, with the Taboo Tiki being the most popular.

After a number of inquiries, my wife has decided to offer this bike for sale. It is extremely hard to find, very sought after, especially the Tiki itself on the front fender. The Tiki light is fully intact and operational, lighting up, strobing, flashing, etc. It is in excellent condition, it doesn’t have 5 miles on it, it just sits with the rest of the collection, looking green.

Nicci is not trying HARD to sell it, but $1200 plus shipping would get it done.

These shoes are incredibly difficult to find. They are new in the box, never even laced up. Mint condition. Size 11, Euro size 44.5.

This was the first BMX specific shoe, and the first BMX signature shoe, they came in black or white, with the cool racing stripe.

I wear size 12 now, making these a bit snug. I bought 6 pair back in 96/97, and this is the last of those pairs.

A great shoe, designed by great riders, a classic.

My great friend Monroe took us out on a boat to the sandbar in Kaneohe and Chip and Jenel had a simple ceremony to renew their vows with majestic views of Kaneohe, the bay, and the Koolau mountains.

It was spectacular, and Nicci and I are going to be beat biters, dope style takers, and renew our vows for our 10th anniversary in early 2011. Thanks for the idea Jenel : )

Our trip included the regular stops- Waiola Shave Ice every day, Martini Zoo a bunch of times, Kapiolani Park, beach, biking, local food galore, and lots of sightseeing for Chip and Jenel, including all of the places where “I used to be cool.”

I have been racing BMX quite a bit in 2010. This past weekend I took three of the neighborhood kids to race for their first time, three siblings, and not only did they all do great, they all won trophies.

I. Did. Not.

This set applied to a couple of 20″ framesets:

As a metal, Ti has a great ride to it, but is usually real flexy. If you were going to make a Ti P, for pump tracks, BMX tracks, dirt jumping, it would have to be extra beefy to stay stiff enough to provide a great ride.

I have a Dean Titanium mountain bike from the early 90’s, my first high end mountain bike (and still in my collection), so I dropped an email to Dean to ask them about the possibilities of a super custom frame.

They don’t do anything like a DJ frame, but they were open to the idea. I knew what I wanted to do geometry and sizing wise, and Ieft tubing selection, tubing gauges, and gusset concerns to them.

This frame was the result of many back and forths with Dean, and sports some very hard to find Ti tubing, diameter and wall thickness wise.

To complete the build I went with a Fox Float 36 fork, Azonic Outlaw wheelset, Hope stem, Intense Micro Knobbies, Sunline V One bar, Twenty6 pedals and a VeloSolo single speed spacer kit.

To add more BMX flavor to it, I used a Redline pivotal saddle, my fave Shimano DX lever (necessitating a cable disc brake- Avid BB7) and my favorite touch, the 40th Anniversary Profile BMX box cranks.

Visually the bike came out great, I am really pleased with it. I have ridden it at pump tracks, around the neighborhood, and I have raced it at the County Line BMX track here in Denver. Racing again this weekend. It is a blast to ride. It is stiff and responsive, but has a definite Ti feel to it as well. Smooth.

Profile BMX box cranks- 40th Anniversary set

For reference, the standard 20″ BMX gearing is 44T on the front, 16T on the rear, 44/16. That gives you 55 gear inches. 41/15 gives you 54.7 gear inches, which is very close. So you can see how you can change sizes front to back and still achieve the same basic gear inch size, giving you the same resistance at the pedals.

For 24″ cruisers, factory Redline runs 41/18, for 54.7 gear inches.

On my 26″ Ti P, I run 32/14, for 59.4 gear inches, a bit taller for a bigger wheeled bike.

Keep in mind that tire size/volume and crank length can affect the actual ratio and feel, apples to apples…
