Great shoes for Racquetball

These Nike Zoom Flight 1995 Retros are a great court shoe. I wore these back in 1995 when they first came out, and I was thrilled to see they were being reissued with a retro flavor.

Speedplay Drilliums and Primo Super Tenderizers- performance platform, cruising platform

Once I started riding a lot of DH, I tried to get hip to running a clipless pedal. I TRIED. Hell, I ran them back in the early 90’s racing XC, but times have changed, styles have changed, and you know what? I don’t need to ride clipless ever again.

REI.com has some big shorts…

Just a quick note on biking shorts…

I need a big pair of roomy shorts. No lycra, and no inserts, i will take care of my own underwear, thanks.

I just like a roomy pair of biking shorts that allow free leg movement and don’t bind up on my thighs.

I have found some good cargo shorts in larger sizes, specifically Levi’s, but for a more lightweight, modern, nylon/poly type material, REI has consistently stocked shorts that work well. Not always biking specific models, but they have a wide selection, larger sizes, and they are quite affordable.

Vigor Vamoose II Full Face Helmets

I must have a giant head.

I have had a really hard time finding a full face helmet that is large enough for my noggin. I have tried many brands, in the largest sizes offered, and have had miserable results. Too tight, too small, literally unable to fit.

Specialized Alias Saddle – 143mm

Ah, the neverending search for the perfect saddle.

The Specialized Alias saddle is my current choice, and whomps all others as far as comfort goes. It fits me extremely well. Nothing else even comes close for comfort.

Hope Brakes – worth every penny!

Just a quick note on Hope Brakes. I “splurged” on my DH rig in 2006 and got the Hope Mono 6 setup, with the aftermarket DangerBoy levers. Good call. They are a tremendous brake, I love the feel, they work spectacularly, and make me very happy.

This adjustable seat post is the single best purchase I have made for my bike in many years. I have the original Speedball post by Maverick, with the bar mounted remote lever, purchased through MoJo Wheels.
